Short story
The first batch happened by accident. Lily had leftover candy corn after decorating and tossed it into her cookie dough, right alongside the white chocolate chips.
She wasn’t sure how it would turn out — too sweet? Too sticky? But when the oven timer dinged, the result was magic: soft, golden cookies with melty white chocolate and little bursts of chewy candy corn in every bite.
Her friends called them “Halloween’s secret treasure.”
Now, every October, those cookies reappear like clockwork — warm, festive, and just a little nostalgic, like autumn wrapped in a bite.
Ingredients:
- 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
- 1/2 cup granulated sugar
- 1/2 cup light brown sugar, packed
- 1 large egg
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 3/4 cup white chocolate chips
- 3/4 cup candy corn
- Optional: 1/4 teaspoon cinnamon for a warm twist
Directions:
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
- In a large mixing bowl, cream together the softened butter, granulated sugar, and brown sugar until light and fluffy.
- Add in the egg and vanilla extract, and beat until smooth and well combined.
- In a separate bowl, whisk together the flour, baking soda, salt, and cinnamon if using.
- Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, mixing until just combined.
- Fold in the white chocolate chips and candy corn carefully. Avoid overmixing to prevent the candy corn from breaking down.
- Scoop tablespoon-sized portions of dough onto the prepared baking sheet, leaving space between each cookie.
- Press a few extra pieces of candy corn and white chocolate chips on top for visual appeal.
- Bake for 9-11 minutes, or until the edges are lightly golden but the centers are still soft.
- Allow cookies to cool on the baking sheet for 5 minutes before transferring to a wire rack to cool completely.
